We have an underweight 40 year old Quarter horse mare with most of her back teeth gone. She is on grains only wetted into a mash since she can’t grind the grains or hay. We feed her a mix of Moorglo, Timothy pellets, Triple Crown Senior and Alfalfa pellets. When her weight has dropped we have added the Super Weight Gain. We would give her 2 scoops in her grain once a day. She currently is roughly 700 lbs but when she is 1000 is when she looks healthy. We are starting her on it again but our farrier thinks she could use 2 to 3 scoops twice a day. We are wondering how much we can feed her to get her weight back up and stabilized without causing any problems. Thanks.

Alan,

Thank you for the question. I only recommend 2 scoops of the Super Weight Gain because of the vitamin-mineral supplement in it. However, to add more calories I would recommend adding Flow or Glow as well.

Let me know if I can answer any more questions.

Sincerely,

Lewis,

Thank you for the question. You can feed it whatever works best for your feeding program. It doesn’t affect digestibility. Let me know I can answer any more questions.

I have a 15 year old Arabian gelding working 5-6 days per week dressage, and he needs to put on more muscle. I have been feeding Platinum Performance GI to help his digestion. I notice your product has Pre and Probiotics which he already gets with the Platinum Performance GI. Will he get too much of the probiotics and prebiotics with your Super Gain product?

Susan,

Thank you for the question. I wouldn’t recommend feeding Platinum Performance GI with Super Weight because they both contain a vitamin-mineral supplement. If you would like to add more protein to his diet I would recommend adding Flaxen Glow<https://horseguard.com/products/flaxen-glow?variant=31620502454370>. It is high in protein and fat to help build muscle.

Super Weight Gain is a great option if you decide you want to make a change. Super Weight Gain<https://www.horseguard.com/shop/store/horse-health/overall/super-weight-gain/> will provide:

A complete vitamin-mineral supplement to meet any deficiencies * A gut supplement with prebiotics, probiotics, and live yeast cultures to help stabilize the gut flora to help them get more out of the feed they are consuming * The cool-energy base of full-fat extruded soybeans that are high in protein and fat to help put on weight and build topline

Let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Kelsey Johnson Nonella, Ph.D., PAS

Trisha,

Thank you for the question. The serving size is based on weight. For 1000 lb horse the dosage is 8 ounces. It is 35% crude protein.

Let me know if I can answer any more questions

I recently started my 27 year old KMSH gelding on Super weight gain as he has dropped quite a bit this summer. He was getting Mega Dose, and still gets Flow. Can I keep him on the Super weight gain ongoing rather than flipping back to Mega Dose? My other horse continues the Mega Dose and Flow as well. Have been using your products for around two years+ and LOVE IT!! Thanks for your help once again!! Ann

Is it safe to feed Super Weight gain as part of my daily feeding ? Or do you recommend a different product once they get to desired weight?
