Hello
I have an 8 year old donkey who is ehv5 infected and protein sensitive. What can I give him to help him gain some weight?
Thank you

Thank you for the question. I would recommend Super Weight Gain and Flow. Super Weight Gain<https://www.horseguard.com/shop/store/horse-health/overall/super-weight-gain/> will provide:

A complete vitamin-mineral supplement to boost his immunity * A gut supplement with prebiotics, probiotics, and live yeast cultures to help stabilize the gut flora to help them get more out of the feed they are consuming * The cool-energy base of full-fat extruded soybeans to help put on weight and build topline

You can also add Flow which provides 98% fat, which provides 2.5 times more calorie dense than protein or fat.

Let me know if I can answer any more questions.

Sincerely,

I have a rescue mini donkey. She is 6 years old. She had a very rough life before we adopted her. She gains weight very quickly. She has to wear a muzzle for grazing in summer. And has more controlled on food in winter. She needs to lose weight for her over all health and feet. Is there a supplement that can help her boost metabolism or promote weight loss. I have been making sure she is more active, but the weight is still easily gained and I want her health to continue to get better and have a overall happy healthy life and with her being overweight, I’m scared she will have severe issues.

Thank you for the question. You are best to feed a hay that is low in sugar and starch, such as Teff hay. I would also recommend investing in an ultra slow feed hay net. This will slow down her eating. I would reduce her hay consumption to 1.5% of hay of her body weight. If she still isn’t losing weight the lowest recommended hay consumption would be 1.2% of her body weight.

Give her Horse Guard to ensure that her vitamin-mineral needs are being met without adding unneeded calories.

Yes, Horse Guard is a safe and beneficial multivitamin for donkeys. Just feed according to weight, 1000lb gets 2 oz, so a 500 lb donkey would get 1 oz a day.
